About us

We are a local football club in Wootton, Northampton, for young people aged between 6-18 years.

Our club relies on the time and efforts of volunteer Coaches and Committee Members to ensure we remain a Charter Standard club able to compete in the Northampton District and Youth Alliance League (NDYAL).

Our club ethos is;

  • To provide age appropriate coaching to children of all ages and abilities in a safe and friendly environment
  • To encourage all players to try their best and make the most of their abilities
  • To offer a challenging but supportive environment where children can learn
  • To promote good behaviour and respect for others

History of the Club

Wootton St George started life as the Sywell Soccer School, run by Archie Grant. From these beginnings Sywell FC came about in 1997 with one team competing in the Northants ’92 League. The club grew with more teams being created and by the time season 2002/2003 came around we had 4 teams competing in the Weetabix, Northants ’92 and John Henry Leagues.

During the last couple of seasons, the small sided teams used Wootton as its base, as Sywell had only one junior pitch and no changing facilities. From the beginning of season 2003/2004, the club adopted the new name of Wootton St George and in August 2003 moved permanently to Wootton in Northampton.

Our Home Ground is now at the Wootton and Community Sports Centre in Northampton.
